About Ümran Ok

Ümran Ok is a Turkish contemporary artist exploring the dialogue between portraiture and abstraction.

Since 2014, she has developed a distinctive style combining expressive color with the human form. She refined her technique and vision through formal training in fine arts, deepening her command of color and composition.

Ümran has participated in numerous group exhibitions, presenting works that blend recognizable figures with abstract elements, inviting emotional interpretation. Faces surface from dense, gestural fields — sometimes accompanied by a white horse, hummingbirds, or a single bloom — so that each canvas reads at once as a portrait and as a landscape of feeling.

Color is central to her practice. She uses vibrant palettes to express memory, identity, and human experience, working in oil with brush and palette knife to build texture that carries as much meaning as the image itself.
